Quantity Based Discounts
In a B2B marketplace, admin can create either discount coupons which would be applicable on the final order amount or he can create quantity discounts which would be applicable on the product basis i.e. admin defines the product and its quantity on selecting which the discounted pricing would be shown to the buyer.
Quantity discounts on products
The products with quantity discounts are marked by the seller’s/manufacturer’s. The discounted price is variable and is dependent on the quantity of the product selected and added in the cart. For e.g. retailers often get better deals if they order more of the same item. For example, the cost per unit for t-shirts might be Rs. 1000 per unit if less than 50 pieces are ordered; Rs. 800 per unit if 50-75 pieces are ordered; or Rs. 700 per unit if 75 or more pieces are ordered.
Benefits of Quantity discounts
Using the quantity discounts, manufacturers can sell their product in large quantities to the retailers by offering them high value discounts on the quantity.
Retailers in turn can churn a good profit by selling the products in smaller units/quantities to the end customer
Admin using his panel can create discount coupons which would be applicable on the final order amount of the buyer. Buyer while completing the order can enter the discount coupon code to avail the discount offered to him.
Coupon codes can be classified in two types based on their offerings:
Percentage discount :- In a percentage type discount code, admin defines the discount percentage to be offered to the buyer on his final cart value. He can define a lower limit of the order amount below which the coupon code would not be applicable.
Flat discount :- In a flat type discount code, admin define the flat discount amount which is to be offered to the buyers on their cart value. He can define a lower limit of the order amount below which the coupon code would not be applicable.
Store promotions are the discounts offered to the buyers which does not require any coupon code.
Store promotions can be of various types which are automatically applied to the buyer’s order as & when the promotion’s condition is fulfilled. Various types of store promotions are:
On first order get discount:- As this promotional activity is activated, every buyer who makes a purchase from his registered email id get a discount on his order value. The discount amount is pre-defined by the admin along with the minimum order value.
No discount will be applicable until the condition is fulfilled.
Free shipping:- Under this promotion, admin sets a minimum order value above which no shipping charges are to be paid by the buyer.
If the order value is less than the minimum order value, the buyer needs to pay some amount of shipping charges as defined by the admin.
Discounts according to slab & period:- Admin can also create some promotional discounts which would be active for a specific time only. While creating time bound discounts, admin define the activate & de-activate date & time upon which system will activate & deactivate the discount coupon automatically.
This activity is helpful for festive or weekend sales.
